Overview

We will cover important drills and strategies for building foundational strength, mobility, and flexibility specific to the individual’s objectives.

This primarily involves proper exercise selection and progressive loading focused on structural balance, increased endurance, range of motion, proprioception, and kinesthetic awareness to reach your goals.

To ensure a sustainable practice, it is important to understand the basics of developing a program, with sustainability and recovery in mind.

WHAT CAN YOU LEARN?

Flexibility

Increased flexibility affords us more freedom in our bodies. We can realise great progress in strength and flexibility by specifically focusing on mobilising the areas that are most troublesome, (i.e. hips, spine, shoulder girdle).

Through training of various split positions (front, side) and the full range of the spinal structure through forward and back bends as well as lateral bends and twists we can improve our performance in all aspects of life.

Learn to have an efficient practice through selective deep and controlled stretches. By understanding the underlying techniques, modifications and variations we can see great progress.

With the incorporation of Pre-hab techniques, we can also reduce the risks of discomfort and increase longevity of your practice.

Handstands

This is designed to take the complete beginner to a comfortable and solid two-arm handstand.

We start by making sure that all of the basic components, such as entries and wall exercises, are solid before moving on to progressions further into the freestanding handstand.

This includes understanding of the most important key points and cues so that you may develop your practice in an effective and safe manner.

Warm up the whole body based on flexibility, mobility and strength. Learn to build confidence in standing upside down.

Incorporate supplementary exercises that work to improve control and strength of each aspect of the handstand.
